Mark Cunningham, director

After more than 10 years as a professional musician and producer, as well as working in advertising and managing a media services studio, Mark came to prominence as a full time music industry journalist in the early ’90s.

This was an exceptionally busy period for Mark as he became a prolific contributor to numerous mainstream, MI and pro sector magazines around the world, whilst also engaged as a freelance consultant for Apple Corps, Storm Thorgerson & Pink Floyd, Isis Productions and Landseer Films, whose ‘Routes Of Rock’ series for ITV included an episode based on Mark’s first book, the best-selling ‘Good Vibrations: A History Of Record Production’.

In 1998, Mark co-founded the market-leading live industry magazine TPi (Total Production International). As editor-in-chief, Mark travelled the globe to document a broad range of high-profile concert tours and also shaped the content of the magazine’s annual event, the TPi Awards, working with celebrity hosts and guest presenters including Paul Gambaccini, Chris Evans, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Brian May, Suggs and Huey Morgan.

Following his departure from TPi after more than 13 years, Mark joined U.S. live sound company Clair Global, managing European client relations and the rebranding of Clair’s UK operation. Upon leaving in 2013, Mark’s biography of the pioneering Celtic rock band Horslips was published, earning multiple accolades including the honour of being named ‘Irish Book of the Year’ by Hot Press.

Representing leading businesses including Stageco Staging Group and Entec Sound & Light, record companies, artists and event producers, Mark launched Liveculture Music Ltd in 2014 and rebranded its media division, groovehype, in 2020. Whilst remaining active as a musician, Mark also has an involvement in artist management and is currently engaged in two documentary film projects.
